该剧改编自在凑佳苗于2019年创作的同名推理小说，讲述新锐电影导演长谷部香（北川景子 饰）向新人编剧甲斐真寻（吉冈里帆 饰）进行电影剧本的咨询。其根源是15年前，家里蹲的男性在自家刺死了高中生妹妹后，纵火致父母死亡的“笹塚町全家被杀事件”。
